Allergy alert – egg

From FDA.gov: DOMEGA NY INTERNATIONAL CO. LTD 4820 2nd AVE BROOKLYN NY 11232 is recalling FUMA CUSTARD PIE because it may contain undeclared eggs. Consumers who are allergic to eggs may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.  The recalled FUMA CUSTARD PIE, is packaged in a 650 gram cardboard box containing 26 individual packages, with a date code of 2010 02 04AA. It was sold in New York State. It is a product of China. The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by food laboratory personnel revealed the presence of undeclared eggs in FUMA CUSTARD PIE in a package which did not declare eggs as an ingredient on the label. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. Consumers who have purchases FUMA CUSTARD PIE are urged to return it to the place of purchase.  Consumers with questions may contact the company at 646-388-3032.

From WalletPop.com: Midwest grocery chain Kroger has issued a recall of some of its ice cream because the labels do not disclose the presence of tree nuts, which can cause serious, even life-threatening problems for someone who is allergic. According to the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, Better Made Snack Foods is recalling “Better Made 3-oz. Original Potato Sticks” due to undeclared milk. This product was distributed to local stores in Michigan. The product comes in a 3-oz. package, UPC# 0-41633-01203-9, with an expiration date of July 23 on the front and a time stamp, the first seven digits of which are 0706112. Consumers are asked to call (800) 409-9427 for a refund.

According to the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, Dominguez Family Enterprises is recalling Juanita’s Brand “Cuernos,” “Pan Huevo,” and “Ojos” Mexican breads due to undeclared milk, soy, and wheat. Products were distributed in retail stores in Alaska, Oregon, and Washington. The products were in 6-count clear, plastic clamshell containers with a white, red, and green label and “best by” dates of 5/12/2010 though 6/05/2010. Consumers may return the product to the place of purchase and ask for a refund. According to the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, VanLaw Food Products, Inc. is recalling “Valu Time brand Ranch Dressing” due to undeclared egg. The products were distributed to Save Mart/Food Maxx stores in northern California. The product has a use-by date of APR 21 11.
